Dead Libyan dictator Colonel Muammar Gaddafi raped hundreds of women during his years in power, and even kept a harem of sex slaves locked in the basement of his home, his former security chief has revealed.
Mansour Daw, who stayed loyal to the tyrant until his downfall and subsequent death in 2011, said Gadaffi’s sexual appetite was so strong that an entire government department was established to source and provide him with prostitutes.

Amnesty Crictics set to Improve.

Amnesty International has denounced the forcible eviction of tens of thousands of homeless people from makeshift camps in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The human rights group says the process has led to "large-scale human rights abuses" including the killing of two people during protests.

Child Mortality Escalation in Ethopia.

Ethiopia has more than halved its mortality rates for children under the age of five years during the last two decades, new UN statistics show.

The report says Ethiopia has cut the number of child deaths to 68 per 1,000 births from more than 200 in 1990.

The government attributed the improved figures to its growing economy.

Despite the reduction, the UN Children's Fund said Ethiopia needed to do much more to improve health facilities for pregnant women.

Ethiopia is one of Africa's poorest states, although it has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years and is one of the continent's leading coffee producers.

Its economy revolves around agriculture, which in turn relies on rainfall.

The BBC's Emmanuel Igunza in the capital, Addis Ababa, says Ethiopia was once a byword for malnutrition in Africa.

But the latest Unicef figures show Ethiopia is one of the few African countries on the path to realising the millennium development goal of reducing child mortality rates, he says.

Ethiopia's Health Minister Kesetebirhan Admasu said increasing household incomes had helped improve people's health.

"This has also resulted in better nutrition for children [and] women; this has translated into better sanitation - all these have direct or indirect impact on the survival of children," he told BBC Africa.

He said the government has also been "aggressively expanding its primary healthcare network".

"We have now 93% coverage of one health centre for 25,000 people, which basically means one health facility within a 7km (four mile) radius," he said.

A Remarkable Human

This morning former England rugby captain, Will Carling, introduced us to an incredible and heart-warming story about a young teacher from Lancashire. Jimmy Higham, an avid Rugby player, was coached by the same person as Will and went on to become a P.E. teacher. Shortly after his 25th birthday, in November 2010, he was tragically diagnosed with cancer. Despite suffering from this terminal illness, he continued to teach in his 'dream job' at Wellington College and made an amazing impact on the students and staff . Jimmy unfortunately lost his battle with cancer only 9 months after his diagnosis, at the young age of 26. But from darkness came a ray of light in the form of a recording.

Jimmy's friends and family always remarked on his great singing voice but he never pursued a musical career or entered TV talent shows as others encouraged. After his death, a university friend discovered an email Jimmy had sent him before he was diagnosed with cancer, which included a recording of him singing Stevie Wonder's, 'Isn't She Lovely'. Jimmy's friend went on to release the track and made it available for download. The proceeds from the single will go to the Jimmy Higham Bursary Fund, which Wellington College set up in his honour. The bursary will allow 16 year olds to spend their last two years at the college with its excellent facilities - giving them a life changing opportunity.
